Robert Mearns

  Research Notes:

I am certain that Robert Mearns & Elspeth Coul are the parents of my ancestor Margaret Mearns and her brothers Alexander & Robert because they all appear together in the Craig Parish List for 1788.

The only uncertainty is over their birth dates. This Robert & this Elspeth are the closest matches that exist in the OPR. This uncertainty then extends to their parentage, which is especially difficult when only the father is named, as is often the case in older records.
